EMAIL: Your Inquiry to the ACLU of Washington

REDACTED

Dear Mr. D,

Thank you for contacting the ACLU of Washington regarding your concerns about conduct by officers of the Bellevue Police Department who investigated your allegation of assault and subsequent complaint to the department regarding the investigating officers.

We regret that the ACLU cannot advise or assist you in this matter.

The ACLU is a private non-profit organization that seeks to protect individual liberties, particularly those rights guaranteed in the Bill of Rights of the U.S. Constitution.

Because our resources are limited, we are unable to participate in every case that raises a civil liberties issue, or to act as a general legal service provider.

While we are regularly presented with many worthwhile and important matters, the ACLU is able to directly participate in a very small number of cases.

Please understand that our inability to assist you directly is not a judgment on the merits of your case, but simply a reflection of the ACLU’s limited resources and institutional priorities.

We have attached below contact information for some resources you may wish to consult to speak with an attorney concerning potential legal remedies against the police department.

Thank you again for contacting the ACLU. We wish you the best in your efforts.
